Miniature labradoodles were first bred in Australia as a guide dog for people with allergies.  They have since become popular all over the world.

The average size of a miniature labradoodle is 18” although this can vary from 14” to 22”.
Temperaments of these beautiful dogs are without a doubt fantastic.  They make loving family pets with outgoing, friendly natures.  They are intelligent and so make training easy as they are quick to pick things up.  They are totally non-aggressive and devoted, joyful and sociable, even comical.

They are excellent with children and love the water.  Both are descended from hunting dogs bred to work in water – the Labrador from St John’s Newfoundland and the Poodle from the Pan-European Water Spaniels) and are natural swimmers.

They do not like being left on their own for long periods of time and crave contact with their family.  They can become bored if not given this time and can then make their own entertainment!

They have been used as Therapy, Assistance and Seizure Alert Dogs as well as Guide Dogs because they are so intelligent and easy to train

The labradoodle is incredibly easy going.  Adaptable to people of all ages and very compatible with existing or new-coming pets into the household.  All our puppies are born and raised in our own home with children and other pets and are confident they will be healthy, socially mature puppies with stable, confident personalities.

The coat is variable from wavy, fleece to spiral or curly coats.  Some are low shedding some shed more.  There is however, such a variation on coats that they cannot be described as good for allergy sufferers, particularly the first crosses.  Even if the puppy coat does not produce a reaction the adult coat when it arrives may around the 12 months of age.

It is very important that both parents used in the breeding of labradoodles have been health tested to make sure they do not carry inherited disorders such as the PRA (eye disorder).

F1’s as they are known are the first generation cross – a Labrador with a Poodle.
Generally speaking their coats will shed more and be less curly.  Because they are the first cross and therefore the gene pool is greatest it is this cross which will have the best hybrid vigor.

F1b’s are Labradoodles usually bred back to a Poodle which will in general produce a denser, curlier coat although there will still be variations in this.

F2’s which are Labradoodles bred with another Labradoodle which can produce a variety of coats dependent upon the Labradoodle coats of the dogs.  These are called multi-generation labradoodles.
